Hardy Jones, of Hardy Jones/Julia Whitty Productions, began his career as a journalist,
working for UPI and CBS News, before becoming an independent filmmaker. Hardy,
with over 70 films to his credit, is a specialist in dolphins and whales. He
has studied and filmed a group of spotted dolphins in the Bahamas since 1978.
Hardy is the Executive director of BlueVoice.org,
which he co-founded with actor Ted Danson, and serves on the board of governors
of Oceana, an ocean advocacy
group. His films have won many awards. He was recently named Filmmaker of the
Year at the 2005 Wildlife Film Festival. His film, "The Dolphin Defender,"
which aired on PBS’ NATURE
in the U.S. and National Geographic channels outside the U.S., has won awards
from several organizations including The Humane Society of the U.S., The Explorers’ Club
and Ekotofilm 2006.
Julia Whitty, of Hardy Jones/Julia Whitty Productions, began making films
in partnership with Hardy Jones in 1980. In addition to writing scripts for
films made by HJ-JWP, she has written numerous freelance scripts. Her latest
book, The Fragile Edge: Diving & Other Adventures in the South Pacific,
will be published by Houghton Mifflin in May, 2007. Her first book, A
Tortoise for the Queen of Tonga, is an award-winning collection of short
stories, is published by Houghton Mifflin. She's a contributing writer for
Mother Jones magazine, and a blogger at The
Blue Marble. Whitty is on the Board
